A)Why Electric / Hybrid cars will fail:

1. Average 12V car battery weights 41lbs.
2. Electric car batteries weigh over 500 lbs made from lithium, other materials will weigh several times more to get the same power.
3. You cannot recycle the lithium in a lithium-ion battery.
4. You can recycle the other metals, but the recycling process lose 30% of these metals in the recycling process.
5. China controls 90% of the world’s lithium supply.
6. If only half the cars in the world went electric, it would consume 80% of the know lithium supply.
7. Lithium is found mostly in arid or desert environment.
8. It can take over 500 gallons of water to get one pound of lithium.
9. Water is used to dissolve the lithium salts, bring the lithium to the surface, and then the water must evaporate to leave behind the lithium salts.
10. Water is the most precious resource in the arid / desert environments.
11. In a lawsuit, hybrid car model will get less gas milage than a compared gasoline mode within 2 to 4 years.
12. Need to concentrate in finding a battery for the electric / hybrid car in a battery that is other than a lithium ion battery.
13. If we continue to use lithium for everything, the cell phone will weigh several times as much if a lithium-ion battery is not used, or you might pay $10,000 for a cell phone because of the lithium-ion battery is that expensive.

B)Electric / Hybrid cars Solution

1. An international agreement needs to be made for the use of lithium batteries.  Only cellphone, laptops, tablets, and military and police drones.
2. Some companies are developing batteries that do not use lithium.  Give these companies tax breaks to help develop that technology in the United States.
